The 2015 Château Filhot was just missing the same fruit intensity as its peers, as if this Sauternes had nipped out the door when I came to visit. Where are you? The palate is actually better with light and breezy honeyed fruit mixed with orange pith and quince, developing more depth toward the precise finish. Give this a few years to allow those aromatics to come back because I am sure they will.
Lovely creamed pear, honey and yellow apple fruit flavors glide along, with a lush, rounded feel and lingering flashes of honeysuckle and apricot. Rich, but fresh and open-knit.
Tasted blind. Deep orangey gold. Not much nose. Toast and quince on the palate with lots of acidity. Clean, brisk and fresh. (JR)
The 2015 Filhot has an enticing, pure bouquet with saffron-infused honeyed fruit, fine delineation and vigor. The palate is very well balanced with tangy quince and marmalade notes. This has an appealing, viscous texture though you could argue it doesn't have the length of the best Sauternes. The 2015 is still attractive though. Tasted blind at the 2015 Bordeaux Ten-Year-On tasting at Farr Vintners.
