How much is shipping to my country?

There are two factors determining the shipping costs: the country of destination and the total weight of the bottles you would like to have shipped. To calculate the shipping cost, please use our shipping cost calculator.

Please note that shipping cost may vary with exceptional bottles such as Magnum or bottles with an above average mass.

For shipments under €500,- within the Netherlands we charge €12,05. Orders in the Netherlands above €500,- we ship for free.

I live in America, can you ship to the United States of America?

Unfortunately, regulations over the past years have made shipping to the USA extremely hard. At this moment we can ship to most of the United States, but only at very high costs.

In addition it takes some time to arrange all the paperwork for shipments to the USA. This means that when selecting this option for shipping, it may take a little longer to receive your parcel, with a transit and clearing time of up to two weeks.

For more information on shipping to the USA, please contact us at

At this moment our team is working to find new ways of reaching the USA. If you wish to be updated, you can create a profile and subscribe to our newsletter. Once we're able to ship to the United States again, we will make sure to contact you through email.

What company do you use for shipping?

We always use UPS. They have proven to be reliable in handling fragile parcels and they have a very trustworthy Track & Trace system that shows the exact progress of delivery.

For shipments to the USA, unfortunately UPS no longer accepts shipments of alcohol. For USA shipments, the courier depends on the state of delivery. Please contact us for more information at

I prefer to pick-up my order instead of shipping it. Is this possible?

You can always choose to collect the parcel. When you place your order, you can select in the confirmation screen whether you would like to pick-up the wines or if you would like to have them delivered. We usually aim to have them available for you in our store within two working days. If you have a specific day on which you would like to pick up your order, please let us know at:

What will happen to the parcel if it gets delivered when I’m not home?

If UPS tries to deliver your parcel and you’re not at home, there are two possibilities. They will either attempt delivery the next working day or they will leave the parcel at a nearby access point.

In most countries, UPS will not leave the parcel at your doorstep or leave them with the neighbours. UPS will always make sure the parcel is delivered to the intended recipient.

Can my parcel be delivered to an Access Point?

Because our shipments contain alcohol, they cannot be addressed to an access point when making the booking. The receiver’s details have to be entered. However, once your parcel is on its way, you can contact UPS (or FedEx) to redirect your parcel to an access point nearby, using the tracking code you will receive.

I just got a notification that the parcel will be delivered, but I noticed there was an error in the address?

There is always a possibility of making a mistake when entering an address. Please try to notify us as soon as you find out that anything is wrong with the delivery information. As long as your parcel has not left our warehouse yet, we can still rectify this error.

Unfortunately, once the parcel is collected from our warehouse, it is very hard to intercept and correct the address. If UPS doesn’t conclude that the address is incorrect themselves, they will make a first attempt of delivery. In both cases we get an alert that the address is incorrect/incomplete, and only then we can rectify this. Please make extra sure that you insert the correct delivery address.

Do I need to pay VAT?

If you live in the EU, and if you are a private costumer, you will have to pay VAT when ordering at Best of Wines.

If you have a company and have a valid VAT number, we are able to waive the VAT to your company. To arrange this, please contact us at

If you live outside the EU, you will have to pay the VAT and import duties upon arrival. Please make sure to check your local customs office for more information about this matter.

How can I place an order?

You can place an order on our website by adding the wines to your shopping basket and checking out. You can also give up your shipping and invoice address and select the method of payment.

Do you have any suggestions on the perfect bottle for me?

We work with a specialized team of wine and spirit enthusiasts who are always willing to offer advise on which bottle to pick. Please don’t hesitate to let us know what you are looking for!

Will you give me a guarantee on the bottles I purchase?

The bottles we have all have their provenance checked and they are currently stored in a climate controlled warehouse. There are several things that can go wrong however.

Shipping issues
If you receive your wines and you notice there are traces of seepage, please contact us immediately. We will make sure that the bottle will be shipped back to us and we will send a replacement. If we can offer no replacement, we can give you a credit, refund or in consultation find the best solution.

Quality issues

In some cases the wines are no longer drinkable. If you happen to come across a wine with a similar problem (corked or oxidized), make sure to let us know immediately. Recork the wine and arrange the bottle to be returned to us within 48 hours. Once we ascertain the default in the wine, we will refund you for the bottle. We give a guarantee on all wines you purchase with us that are up to 15 years old with red wine and 5 years old with white wine.

Which methods of payment do you accept?

We accept the following methods of payment:

American Express
Paypal (+3%)

*If you wish to pay by bank transfer, please send an email with your order to

Are all wines on your website present?

Our website is a digital presentation of the wines we currently have in stock.

Are the pictures on your website representing the actual bottles?

All pictures on our website were taken from a bottle we have in our warehouse. If we have more bottles of the same wine available, we will put online a picture of the most representative bottle as to make sure you'll always get what you order.

There are bottles of which we still need to take a picture. These bottles are shown with our default picture, a blanc bottle. We aim to have these pictures online as soon as possible.

What does OWC/mid-shoulder/IN OC mean?

Our bottles come to us from different sources and in different states. To us it is very important to give the correct description to these bottles. We use the commonly used terms for this. Here is a list of the terms you might encounter:

Original Wooden Case

The wine is stored in its original wooden casing.

 In original Container

If a wine or spirit was released in a carton single packing, this mean that the bottle is still packed this way.

Low-Shoulder, Mid-Shoulder, High-Shoulder, Top-Shoulder, Base of neck, into neck

With older wines it is important to know the level of the wine in the bottle. The ‘Shoulder’ is the curve in the top of a wine bottle. This refers to the level of the wine in comparison to the shoulder.

3-5 cm

With Bourgogne shaped bottles, the shoulder is relatively long. The level of the wine is measured in numbers of cm below the cork.

I want to buy a gift on your website, do you offer a gift service?

On a daily base we process gifts for our customers. You can always make sure that the bottle is delivered at the intended person by altering the delivery address. Also we have several gift boxes you can choose from.

If you wish to insert a specific message or if you want your gift to be delivered on a specific date, please don’t hesitate to contact us at:

Also: we never include an invoice with a gift. If you wish to receive the invoice for the ordered bottles, please let us know and we can send you a PDF file. You will receive a confirmation and an invoice via email. Please make sure to insert your own email address when ordering a gift on our website

I’m looking for a wine from someone’s birth year, can you provide me with a list?
