The 2014 Branco Antónia Adelaide Ferreira is a 60/40 blend of Viosinho and Arinto, aged for 12 months in new French barrels (2,000 liters). It comes in at 13% alcohol. Sourced from high-altitude vines (650 meters), this shows its oak too much in its youth. That should improve, but the elegant mid-palate is what you will get. Between the lighter-styled 2014 vintage and the high altitude, this has a light-and-bright feel to it that I rather liked, particularly with the crisp edge on the finish. It is perhaps even a little tart, and there is a touch of flint, too. Just the third vintage, this shows promise, but I wasn't completely convinced here. It may yet be able to improve in the cellar. No pricing was set as of this writing.
A robust, full-bodied white, lending creamy mango, honeyed peach and marmalade flavors, matched with floral, beeswax and fig accents. Baking spice notes mark the long finish. Viosinho and Arinto.
