Vinous (93)

The 2022 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru comes from the Pernand side of the hill and is matured in 40% new oak. It has a well-defined bouquet with well-integrated new wood, allowing the terroir to come through. Hints of wild peaches and yellow flowers. The well-balanced palate has good weight and a slightly honeyed texture, harmonious with good length and a little creaminess towards the finish. Good potential. Like the 2021, there will be two cuvées of this, one released after one winter in barrel and the other after two winters.

Burghound (93)

Fresh and ripe aromas are comprised by overtly floral notes of citrus confit, spice and just sliced green apple plus a discreet dollop of wood. There is borderline painful intensity to the dense, serious and palate staining medium weight flavors that are overtly mineral-driven on the tautly muscular and hugely long finish. Like it's 2023 counterpart, this is very tightly wound, indeed even more so and as such, I would buy this only with the explicit intent to allow it at least a few years of keeping first. Lovely.

Jasper Morris (95)

After the blend was made, some wine was returned with some lees to an older barrel (third fill) and was kept back for bottling in May 2024. A pale fresh lemon. Slightly more tension on the nose. This comes across as more classic Corton-Charlemagne in all departments, much more mineral across the palate, citrus apple and stones at the finish, with excellent length.
