Avis professionnels

Robert Parker (94)

Medium to deep garnet colored, the 2009 Leoville Barton gives up expressive cherry cordial, warm cassis and blackberry tart scents with nuances of menthol, cigar box and fallen leaves. Medium-bodied and elegantly played with loads of freshness and soft tannins, it has a long, perfumed finish.

Winespectator (95)

This is powerful Cabernet, with gutsy weight, but polished feel to the fresh plum, warm blackberry sauce, bittersweet ganache and roasted apple wood notes. Long and tarry through the finish, but still invigorating despite its heft. Will need some time to round fully into form.

Jancis Robinson (17)

Tasted blind. Hint of sweaty socks on the nose. Then extremely opulent sweet fruit that seems rather separate from the acidity and ripe tannin. Not perfect but there are sufficient elements here to suggest it will develop into something pretty smart. Very youthful. (JR)

Rene Gabriel (19)

Rene Gabriel rates this wine 19/20 points.

BOW (8.75)

Falstaff (95)

Dark ruby garnet colour with purple reflections, delicate brightening on the rim. Fresh dark forest berry confit, a hint of cherries, fine wood savouriness in the background, subtle herbal notes in the echo. Elegant, with nuances of red berries, fresh, medium complexity, ripe, well-supporting tannins, mineral and salty, a subtle, finesse-rich Saint-Julien classic, already accessible and with great ageing potential.

Wine Enthusiast (98)

A major success of the vintage. The wine exhibits extreme richness of the fruit, with all its sweet blackberry flavors. It also has underlying firm structure, density and solid tannins. Bring in the acidity at the end, and this is both impressive and ready for long-term aging.
