The 1959 has not been retasted since the last edition of this book, but I suspect well-stored bottles would still be impressive. It was a powerful, rich, roasted Figeac that typified the torrid weather conditions of the 1959 growing season.
Rene Gabriel rates this wine 19/20 points.
