The 1989 Masseto is pure silk. It shows striking inner perfume and sweetness as it blossoms on the palate with layers of expressive fruit. This is a fabulous showing for the 1989.

Winespectator (88)

Pleasant and fresh, with black olive and berry aromas and flavors, almost tobaccolike. It's medium-bodied, with soft tannins and a light finish. This was a difficult vintage with lots of rain, but the wine is better than I remember.--Masseto non-blind vertical.
