A hefty red, this displays black cherry, blackberry, earth and iron flavors. Dense, burly tannins and brisk acidity provide structure, and a beam of pure fruit lingers on the finish. Shows fine balance and length overall.
An exuberantly spicy nose features a range of red berries along with a pretty floral top note. The round, supple and enveloping medium-bodied flavors exude a subtle bead of minerality on the youthfully austere finale that tightens up considering. Patience will be required.
95+ year old vines, which they use to take cuttings for selection massale. Bright purple. The nose is backward. There is a clean, clear-cut fruit, good acidity, the style shows the hillside location, the intensity shows the age of the vines. A fine backbone.
