The Querciabella 2019 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Querciabella (a certified organic wine with only 4,000 bottles made) offers extra density and richness in the form of blackcurrant, spice and potting soil. The wine is firmly concentrated with soft texture and drying mineral sensations on the finish. It is classic in presentation and accessible in approach.
This red has mellowed significantly, offering intense aromas and flavors of cherry, raspberry, plum, earth and tobacco. Its tannins are well-integrated yet firm, while the finish picks up wild herb and mineral notes. Shows excellent drive, balance and complexity.
This is attractive with fresh aromas of cherries and raspberries as well as ground cloves, hazelnuts and crushed stones. Full and structured with chalky tannins that are a little chewy but crunchy and lively. Steady and mineral on the finish. From organically grown grapes.
100% Sangiovese from Solatio vineyard. Easier vintage than 2017, 2018 and the COVID-affected 2020, and much admired in the region. Harvest 19 September to 17 October. TA 5.66 g/l, pH 3.33.
Bright crimson. More reserved nose than the 2018 but with some liquorice lift. Fresh and polished fruit with lots of energy and punch. Fresher than the 2018. (JR)
