The organic Monteverro 2021 Terra di Monteverro is tight and elegant, with a linear approach that is very much in line with the character of this vintage. This is a full-bodied wine with dark fruit aromas and generous textural richness. The wine is more Bordeaux in character than it is Tuscan, but that's a statement that might well be in line with the general Monteverro philosophy. There is a hint of sweet ripeness on the close. The blend is Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot.
Pretty aromas of lavender, lilacs, currants, blackberries and graphite follow through to a medium body with very fine tannins and a creamy and polished texture. It’s very approachable. Hints of cedar and sandalwood to the subtle fruit at the end. From vineyards in loamy soils and emphasizing drinkability. A blend of 40% cabernet, 35% cabernet franc, 20% merlot and 5% petit verdot. Drinkable now, but better in a year or two.
The 2021 Terra di Monteverro is gorgeous. Succulent black cherry/plum fruit, licorice, new leather and mocha are beautifully amplified in the glass. This exuberant red from the Tuscan coast delivers the goods.
Rich cherry red with purple reflections. Fragrant, multi-layered nose of dried purples, tobacco leaves and preserved cherries. Reminiscent of cedar wood and leaves on the finish. Balanced, finely-meshed tannins with great fruit on the palate. Great fun!
