Produced from 80-year-old vines, the dark-colored 1999 Pommard Rugiens is extraordinary!. Its backward, black fruit-laden nose leads to a full-bodied, chewy-textured syrup of wine. It is extremely thick, dense, packed with blackberry jam, spices, tar, and licorice. This fresh, muscular, intense wine has abundant super-ripe tannins that are immersed in jellied fruit flavors. Its exceedingly long finish reveals hints of toasty new oak.
