The 2018 Meursault Village Rouge offers copious aromas of red cherry and blueberry fruit, cranberry jus and touches of rose petal. The palate is chewy on the entry, a little tough at the moment but possessing plenty of matière and delivering spicy dark berry and mulberry fruit toward the grippy finish. Precocious.
A slightly riper and darker fruited nose is comprised by notes of cassis, black cherry and subtle spice and earth nuances. Here too there is excellent richness to the finer if not quite as dense flavors that are shaped by moderately firm tannins on the complex and sneaky long finish. This too is very impressive for what it is.
