89-91
A blend of 43% Merlot, 43% Cabernet Franc and 14% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2024 Canon la Gaffelière is a bit dark and brooding, revealing aromas of iris, flowers, gentian and oak mingled with a delicate reduction. Moderately weighted, chewy and compact, it has a lively mid-palate, brittle tannins and a spicy, licorice-inflected finish.
93-94
A polished CLG with berries and medium body, this is very fine and linear in the finish. Citrus and crushed-stone undertones. White pepper. From organically grown grapes.
Dark- and red-berry fruit. Blackberry notes to the fore. Slightly robust on the palate but there’s energy and character here.
93-96
The 2024 Canon-La-Gaffelière is all class. Delicate and pliant, the 2024 is another fine offering in this range from Stephan von Neipperg. Dark red-toned fruit, pomegranate, spice, blood orange, new leather and pipe tobacco build in the glass. Like all the wines here, Canon-La-Gaffelière is on the lighter side, but it very much retains all of its signatures. Exquisite.
91-93+
The 2024 Château Canon-La-Gaffelière checks in as 43% Merlot, 43% Cabernet Franc, and the balance Cabernet Sauvignon, resting in 30% new oak. It has solid ripeness in its red and black fruits, leafy herbs, tobacco, and spicy nuances. It's medium-bodied, has a round, layered mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and outstanding length.
