Claude Dugat
Domaine Dugat is a small family-owned winery. The Dugat family has been working at the domaine since 1955. The domaine was built in 1219, and some parts are original from Roman times. Today, the winery is run by Claude Dugat, his wife and three children (son, two daughters).
The Dugat vineyard covers six hectares in Gevrey-Chambertin, where the
family has a long tradition of winemaking. Claude Dugat grew up in the
winemaking world and started to bottling and selling wine himselves in
the 1990s.
The soil is chalk-rich, which brings a signature minerality and elegancy to the wines.
The harvest is done manually and quite early, so the fruit isn't too ripe and doesn't have too much sugar. Vinification is without fining or filtering. Maturing is done in oak barrels (60% new). The crus are matured in casks of 100% new wood.
The domain uses sustainable agriculture.
