The 2012 Bourgogne Rouge comes from a single parcel just opposite the Auberge restaurant in Vosne in the lieu-dit “Lutonieres”. The 50+-year old vines produce around 30hl/ha, raised in used wood except for 10%. It has a fragrant bouquet with fragrant dark cherry and raspberry scents that are given just a little heft by the oak. The palate is medium-bodied with red cherry fruit and crisp strawberry that build towards quite an insistent finish. Lovely!
The expressive nose displays bright aromas of cherry, soft earth and the barest suggestion of spice elements. There is excellent volume, freshness and verve to the medium weight flavors that possess good mid-palate concentration before culminating in a persistent, balanced and complex finish. This is a first-rate Bourgogne and absolutely one to buy if you can find it plus it should repay mid-term cellaring if desired.
