Notes of pear, white flowers, wheat toast and smoke introduce the 2019 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Les Champlots, a medium to full-bodied, satiny and incisive wine that's concentrated, mineral and precise. Saline and penetrating, it should enjoy a bright future.
A very pretty and more floral suffused nose offers additional notes of spiced pear and ripe apple. The sleek, racy and beautifully detailed medium weight flavors exude evident minerality on the bone-dry, focused and solidly persistent finish that is just a bit firmer. I quite like this, both for its balance but also stylistically.
A little more yellow in the colour, and smokier and sunnier fruit though, showing an additional density here, with brisk energy, while again the acidity has a lemony note. The fruit fills out all the way to the finish. 13.8% alcohol.
