The 1988 Sociando-Mallet is medium-bodied, somewhat lighter than one might expect, but concentrated and spicy, with a sense of balance.

Winespectator (91)

Very pretty chocolate and blackberry character, with a hint of mint. Full-bodied, with soft tannins and a lots of minty, currant flavors. Delicious wine. Hasn't changed. Will improve with age, but delicious now.
