Disgorged in March 2019 with three grams per liter dosage, the NV Extra-Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Cuvée Vive unfurls in the glass with scents of wet stones, iodine, lemon oil, crisp green apple and brioche. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, with a ripe core of fruit, racy acids and a penetratingly chalky finish. This finely balanced bottling is showing very well.

Base 2009: The entry-level cuvée from this domaine, the NV Champagne Grand Cru Blanc De Blancs Le Mesnil Sur Oger Cuvee Vive is 100% Chardonnay, from chalky soils, that’s mostly from the 2009 vintage. It offers terrific green apple, stone fruits, white flowers and some brioche/toasty notes in a racy, medium-bodied, incredibly refreshing style. Well-made, crisp, refreshing and juicy, it should keep for a decade or more.
