First produced in 2019, the organic Máté 2021 Brunello di Montalcino Veltha comes from fossil-rich galestro soils that sharpen the wine’s contours and enhance freshness, giving it greater definition and detail in this vintage. Beneath that vertical lift lies a rich, velvety core with substance and volume, shaped by fermentation in stainless steel followed by 36 months in large-format French oak. Notes of sour cherry and sweet spice find fine balance, resulting in a focused yet generous Sangiovese. Production is limited to 1,533 bottles.
The flavors are dark, evoking black cherry, blackberry and plum, with a hefty dose of iron, wild herbs and eucalyptus. The lush texture midpalate offsets dry tannins that infuse the finish. A beam of energy keeps this red long and invigorating.
A bright nose of cherries, cranberries, cedar and subtle iron notes with a touch of forest floor. The palate is sleek and juicy, with a medium to full body, chalky tannins and a fleshy core of fruit. Long, savory and well defined. From organically grown grapes. Try after 2028.
Certified organic by ICEA.
Mid to deep ruby. Lifted balsamic cherry on the nose with a complex oak note. Juicy sour-cherry fruit with bittersweet, fine tannins. Very long and focused and juicy. Walter Speller
