A moderately toasty nose fights somewhat with the spicy plum, cassis, warm earth and game suffused aromas. There is a plush mouth feel to the big-bodied and muscular flavors that display a discreet minerality before terminating in a firm, vibrant and quite serious finish. This extremely rich effort seems more forward than it is thanks to the abundance of tannin buffering dry extract so patience will be required.
