Avis professionnels

Robert Parker (93)

90-93
The 2024 Cantenac Brown was cropped at a very low 16 hectoliters per hectare and represents 52% of the estate's production. The new winery's battery of smaller tanks made it possible to isolate sub-parcels to attain more homogenous maturity. Offering up aromas of cassis, violets and pencil shavings, it's medium-bodied, with good density and concentration, built around sweet tannins and integrated acids. It's a blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27.5% Merlot and the balance Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.

James Suckling (94)

93-94
A velvety, densely fruited red with a delicate texture. Cherries and some pine needles on the nose. Medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins. Silky and delicious with some more berry and chocolate character on the finish.

Jancis Robinson (17)

Deep crimson hue. Creamy dark-fruit nose. Rich and full on the palate. Plush for the vintage. Generous fruit weight with polished and well-integrated tannins. Freshness as well. Less finesse than Brane-Cantenac but impressive for the vintage.

Vinous (94)

92-94
The 2024 Cantenac Brown is a classic wine from the château. Even in this vintage, all the signatures are present. Opulent dark fruit, new leather, incense, cloves, new leather and chocolate are dialed up. Technical Director Jose Sanfins and his team did a terrific job capturing all the elements of the house style, which is about as strong a compliment as is possible in this vintage. The 2024 will be fascinating to taste in a vertical some years down the road. New oak is 60%. Tasted two times.

Falstaff (92)

Dark ruby, opaque core, purple reflections, subtle brightening on the rim. Fresh wild berries, a hint of cherries, touch of violets, soft notes of tangerine zest. Juicy, dark berry fruit, fresh, ripe tannins, good persistence, shows some length and ageing potential.
