Chimère's 2015 is a red Rhône blend built on a Mourvèdre-based selection, with a touch of Grenache, Clairette and other varieties.
The 2015 harvest yielded a good crop; while the young Grenache vines experienced significant water stress, the older Grenache vines did not. Aging takes place entirely in demi-muids (large oak barrels with a capacity of approximately 600 liters), with the focus on refining the texture rather than adding oak notes.
The wine itself is made by the Maurel brothers of Clos Saint Jean, oenologist Philippe Cambie and Manfred Krankl.
