After aging just nine months in 300-liter barrels, the 2020 Chateauneuf du Pape (a blend of 92% Mourvèdre, 5% Grenache and 3% Roussanne, from 50-year-old vines in La Crau) offers bold aromas of black cherries accented by slightly floral, oaky notes. Full-bodied and rich, concentrated but not overly alcoholic, framed by supple, ripe, velvety tannins that turn long and dusty on the finish, this is a lovely wine that should age well for 20 years or more.
