Taken from barrel, the 2015 Gevrey Chambertin Village was matured in 50% new oak. It has a backward bouquet, very tight and perhaps missing some charm at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannin, crisp red and black fruit with a touch of white pepper, although the new oak feels too domineering towards the finish, rendering it a little generic compared to its peers. Not bad, but it could be better with more restraint.
Mid cherry. Dark fruited and just a little smoky. Dark and savoury on the palate with a light char note on the finish. Savoury and dark and satisfying. Chewy texture but with the fruit to balance.
