Chateau Bellevue Mondotte
Château Bellevue Mondotte is a renowned estate located on the picturesque slopes of Saint-Émilion, Bordeaux. The 2-hectare vineyard is situated on the limestone plateau of AOC Saint-Émilion Grand Cru and has been owned by Vignobles Perse since 2001. Gérard Perse and Chantal Persia are in charge of the estate. The technical director is Jean-Philippe Lavau.
Château Bellevue Mondotte is committed to transitioning to organic farming practices. The vineyard consists of 90% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon with an average vine age of 45 years. Grapes are carefully handpicked and sorted before undergoing alcoholic fermentation with native yeast in temperature-controlled wooden vats. After 3-5 weeks on the skins, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in barrels. Following 6 months of aging on its lees in 100% new oak, the maturation process typically lasts for 24 months. Blending occurs just before bottling, and the wine is neither fined nor filtered.
The wine is produced from very low yields of 15-20 hectoliters per hectare and is aged in 100% new oak. Michel Rolland serves as the consultant oenologist. After 6 months of aging on its lees, the wine remains in barrels for another 18 months before being bottled unfiltered and unfined.
In 2005 and 2009 the wines were rated 100 points by Robert Parker.
