Perfume from the rocks! The 2022 Riesling Ried Dürnsteiner Kellerberg is coolish, fresh and flinty as well as herbal and even grassy on the deep, intense and complex nose that already indicates great potential. Lean, lush and fresh yet also intense and multi-layered on the palate, with juvenile yet fine acidity and serious tannin grip, this another outstanding classic in PK's 2022 portfolio, where the Rieslings clearly have the front seat. This Kellerberg combines power, complexity and tonic grip with purity, mineral freshness and terroir-driven tension. This is a great wine, most likely the finest Kellerberg Erich Krutzler has ever produced. It might be less dense and muscular than the Pfaffenberg, but it's a Kellerberg that is built on substance, finesse and elegance. 13% stated alcohol. Natural cork.
The 2023 Riesling Kellerberg was fermented in stainless steel only. It still has a funky but lemony sense of yeast but is imbued with something tender and creamy, also suggesting crunchy, juicy greengage and Reine Claude plum. This is all about lemony creaminess, bright, soothing, smooth and cooling, with a zesty and stony depth that lends backbone. (Bone-dry)
