The 2017 Meursault Clos des Ambres is also showing very well from bottle, opening in the glass with notes of green pear, oatmeal, dried white flowers and a hint of youthful reduction that dissipates with aeration. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, multidimensional and textural, with an enveloping attack that segues into a deep, muscular core, concluding with a racy finish.
In tank since just before the 2018 harvest and will be bottled in March or April. This is a selection from En l’Ormeau. Fermented and aged in two foudres.
This is a little more herbal and strict on the nose than the straight Meursault. Stony and spicy, too. Extremely tight and tense on the palate but a perfect balance between depth of fruit and crisp acidity. Long, stony, saline finish. Saliva-provoking with incredible intensity and length. (JH)
