The summer of 2023 in Margaux was warm and, at times, humid, which proved to be a real challenge for winemakers on the Left Bank of the Gironde. Château Palmer’s “Historical XIXth Century Wine L.20.23” is a blend of Bordeaux grape varieties with the addition of Syrah from the Rhône; this year’s vintage combines ripe fruit notes with a genuine freshness beneath them. Furthermore, thanks to the addition of Syrah—a rarity for the Margaux region—the 2023 vintage possesses more spicy nuances than traditional Palmer wines.
