Wines from Anthill Farms

Anthill Farms

Anthill Farms is a remarkable winemaker that commenced in 2004. It is a testament to the dedication of three friends who dared to chase their winemaking dreams, producing wines that have captured the hearts and palates of wine enthusiasts seeking the extraordinary in every bottle. Webster Marquez, David Low, and Anthony Filiberti, initially cellar workers at prestigious wineries, embarked on this journey without substantial financial backing or family ties to the wine industry. They shared a passion for crafting exceptional Pinot Noir, Syrah, and Chardonnay from select vineyards in Northern California. Their commitment to the craft and the pursuit of excellence led them to pool their limited resources and establish a winery at a small facility.

At the heart of Anthill Farms' winemaking philosophy are two unchanging goals: to create wines that faithfully express the unique attributes of the vineyard and the characteristics of the vintage, and, above all, to make wines that simply taste exceptional. Achieving these objectives demands meticulous attention to detail, gentle grape handling from crushing to bottling, judicious oak usage, and, significantly, allowing the wine to evolve with minimal intervention. Anthill Farms sources grapes from a diverse array of North Coast vineyards, including the cool coastal regions of Sonoma County. The temperate coastal microclimate, with its consistent cool breezes, allows for delayed harvesting, resulting in a prolonged growing season that imparts complexity to the grapes. One of Anthill Farms' standout vineyards is the biodynamically farmed Abbey-Harris Vineyard, nestled at elevations of 900-1100 feet above Boonville. This site is the source of their sought-after single vineyard Anderson Valley Pinot Noir. In addition to their estate vineyard, Anthill Farms collaborates with other esteemed vineyards in Mendocino County, Sonoma County, and the Russian River Valley.

The Pinot Noir of Anthill Farms Harmony Lane Vineyard from the Sonoma Coast was graded at 96 Points Robert Parker: "The Anthill Farms Pinot Noir from Harmony Lane Vineyard welcomes you with a lush and enticing bouquet. Aromas of rhubarb, boysenberry, and crushed blackberries take centre stage, adorned by hints of liquorice and an array of potpourri-like nuances. On the palate, this wine boasts exceptional concentration, vibrancy, and a silky texture, showcasing a captivating spectrum of tricolored berry fruits, citrus notes, and an abundance of floral intricacies. The finish is enduring and multi-faceted. In sum, a truly exquisite and graceful wine!"
