The 2012 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Groseilles has a light redcurrant and raspberry bouquet that is well-defined and feminine. The palate is medium-bodied with a fleshy ripe opening, good acidity with a precise if slightly herbaceous finish.
It's hard to say which is stronger, the wood or the reduction as both are markedly pungent. The wood continues onto the caressing lighter weight flavors that possess a lilting mouth feel as well as a discreet minerality on the intense and impressively long finish where the wood resurfaces. Note that my range offers the benefit of the doubt that the oak will be successfully integrated with a few years of bottle age.
