Backward and tight, with a core of cherry wrapped in a cloak of wood. It's lively and moderately dense, even rustic now, but doesn't have the depth of fruit for long keeping.
Cask sample. Attractive if light scent. Rich spread of flavours. Slightly charred notes. Lots of fruit. Very, very chewy and serious. Very dry end. Will probably get there, but the palate is stiffening at the moment. Full and a bit stodgy. Respectable and yeomanlike, but not racy and aristocratic.
