Tarry cherry-scented and black as night, the 2002 Gevrey-Chambertin Petite Chapelle is a seamless wine of exceptional purity, depth, and amplitude. Syrupy layers of black cherries, blackberries, and cassis are interspersed with Asian spices, new oak, licorice, and leather in its seductive character as well as in its prolonged, suave finish. Projected maturity: 2008-2018.
