Chateau Figeac

Château-Figeac has been owned by the same family for nearly 130 years, since 1892. Its history goes back to the years 100 AD where a family named Figeacus gave name to the then existing villa. The current chateau is build in the 16th and 17th century.

Thierry Manoncourt was responsible for the Chateau since 1947 and created the "Figeac style" and instilled an innovative and environmentally conscious approach that was ahead of its time. Over 60 vintages, the man known as the "Pharaoh of Saint-Émilion" (because of this forehead and eyes) established a vision of which conditions a superb wine should meet and brought Château-Figeac at the top quality wines of Bordeaux. Manoncourt brought a new perspective to Figeac's unique terroir and created an optimal blend for Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot.

The label for the estate was created by Manoncourt's uncle Robert Villepigue in 1906 and has become the hallmark of Château-Figeac.

Figeac owns 54 hectares of vineyards which lie on a deep gravel topsoil over a  iron-rich subsoil. The grape variety is 35% Cabernet Franc, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot.

Figeac was promoted in 2022 to the level of Premier Grand Cru Classé A, the highest of the St Emilion classification.

Chateau Figeac meets the high standards for being environmentally friendly and has a Level 3 HVE High Environmental Value certification.
