The 2023 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru Les Demoiselles (Domaine des Héritiers Jadot) is one of the highlights of the range, unwinding in the glass with notes of citrus zest, crisp orchard fruit, white flowers and iodine. Full-bodied, satiny and seamless, it's pure and racy, with good depth at the core and a long, saline finish. It should develop superbly in bottle.

Cask sample. Surprisingly complex for such a young wine: oatmeal and a sprinkling of spice, and under that is pure, fresh lemon fruit plus an inescapable stone-dust/mineral quality. Deep, lightly chewy, long. This isn’t the finest of burgundy vintages but with this wine Jadot have made the most of 2023. Needs time. (JH)

The 2023 Chevalier-Montrachet Demoiselles Grand Cru has a very controlled bouquet—without the fireworks of the Bienvenue, yet with real mineralité and poise—offering delicate touches of yellow fruit and crushed flowers. The palate is medium-bodied and very intense with a waxy-textured opening, fine acidity and notes of walnut and allspice that give way to a little pepperiness toward the finish. This is a multifaceted Chevalier-Montrachet that should age well over the next 20 to 25 years.

A broad-ranging nose displays cool, airy and layered aromas of the essence of pear, mineral reduction, white flowers, citrus and lovely spice nuances. There is very good volume to the rich, generous and punchy medium weight flavors that brim with both sappy dry extract and an almost pungent stoniness, all wrapped in a powerful, long and balanced finale that could also use better depth so some patience advised.

Pale lemon, a sense of authority which makes the Bâtard look like a pugnacious bruiser. The very first sniff suggests a great vintage. It is fully ripe, but it holds itself together, a really beautiful expression, and texture and persistence. Faint liquorice note shows the ripeness but this just absolutely works.
