There are two barrels this year of the 2019 Nuits-Saint-Georges Au Bas de Combe, a terrific wine that exhibits aromas of cassis, plums, woodsmoke, incense and rich soil tones. Medium to full-bodied, layered and intensely concentrated, it's more tightly wound than the two Vosne-Romanée bottlings that preceded it, with elegantly chalky tannins and lively acids.
27 hl/ha at 14.2%. Very dense purple. Chunkier bouquet compared to Colombière. Starts to develop into a sweet black fruit on the nose, certainly black cherries on the palate, power more than heat, though the fruit register is a ripe one, lowish acidity but acceptable. Long finish on these dark touches.
