Starts out with aromas of sweet raspberry, cherry and mineral, turning deeper and more brooding. This is fresh, with a vein of mineral and firm, ripe tannins that are aggressive on the finish now.
Good deep red. Youthful yet expressive aromas of exotic dark berries, cola and flowers, with high-toned hints of spices and rose soap. At once creamy and penetrating, offering a superripe, silky texture and a chewy, saline quality that made this easy to taste at the outset. Finishes with big, serious, almost salty tannins. With aeration, this wine tightened up and grew drier, while the Clos de Beze got sweeter.
A notably riper and highly complex but notably austere nose blends red and blue fruit aromas plus floral, coffee, plum and spice hints that merge into equally austere, strict and distinctly mineral-infused medium full flavors wrapped in a linear and chewy finish as this is a very serious and structured wine. Impressive and flat out hugely long but note that plenty of patience will be required.
