This is very refined with ultra-fine tannins that run the length of the wine, with a medium body and impressive length, not lacking anything. Purity and focus. Drinkable now with delight, but will age beautifully.
The 2020 Matriarch is plump, juicy and forward, all of which make it a fine choice for drinking now and over the next few years. Succulent black cherry, blackberry, chocolate, cloves and licorice build effortlessly, showing the natural exuberance of this warm, drought year to great effect. There is a bit of grittiness in the tannin, but that is next to impossible to escape in this very challenging vintage.
