The 2022 Mazy-Chambertin Grand Cru is deeper and more brooding than the Clos de la Roche, unwinding in the glass with aromas of dark berries, orange zest, spices and subtle hints of juniper berry. Medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, with an inky core of fruit and sweet, supple tannins, it will reward some patience.
Cask sample. Mid ruby. Lovely, ripe nose of soft red cherries and raspberries. Raspberry and a touch of cassis on the palate. Fresh, crisp acidity. Lovely texture. Tannins are ripe and finely woven. Fine balance between fruit, acid and tannin. (MH)
A fine and cheerful mid purple. The bouquet follows the rule of the year with its energised raspberry fruit, just a little bit rougher at the finish, but that is more of a Mazy thing. Fair length, this should blossom.
