Vincent Girardin's Meursault Les Perrières 2023 is a white Premier Cru originating from Côte de Beaune, located on a steep slope at the southern end of the village; made entirely from Chardonnay. Les Perrières is situated next to Genevrières, and is planted in white marl soil over limestone; this combination gives Meursault a salinity and cut rather than straight butter.

2023 was the warmest year on record for Burgundy. Following a mild winter, budbreak began early, and humid weather created real mildew pressure during the first half of May; however, a hot, dry spell around May 19 caused the season to progress rapidly. Temperatures in June were about 3°C higher than average. Chardonnay set less generously than Pinot Noir, and coulure, a phenomenon where some flowers fail to develop into fruit, occurred; as a result, while fruit volume was high, it was not excessive.

Growers throughout Côte de Beaune harvested grapes for white wine during the first half of September. And the results are evident in the glass: the rich, ripe flavors of Meursault, underpinned by the minerality derived from the limestone soils of Perrières. This wine is better suited for enjoying with a meal than as an aperitif.
