Robert Parker (85)
Deeply saturated color. Rich, “aristocratic” nose displays scents of ripe blackberry and plum fruit, with notes of minerals, leather, tar, and smoke. The 2000 does not have the same sense of elegance in the mouth as previous vintages. Its strength is power and concentration. This is a youthful, tannic wine that very much reflects the Bolgheri soil. Once again, there’s an unmistakable saline taste. The acidity is outstanding. Long, penetrating, tannic finish. Clearly needs more time to evolve.

Shows its class. Loaded with fruit. Rich yet balanced, with lots of jammy and plummy character. Full-bodied, with round tannins and a silky finish. Exotic. Sass made excellent wine again in a less than easy year.
