The 2023 Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru (Maison Louis Jadot) exhibits aromas of pear, orange zest, iodine and toasted nuts, followed by a full-bodied, satiny and seamless palate that's long and racy. This is another strong performance for this reliable cuvée.
The 2023 Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru's aromatics don't quite deliver the bravura of the Bâtard; they are much more reticent and give little away at the moment. The palate is well balanced with more weight than the Bâtard yet without the same level of finesse and mineralité. It coheres nicely on the finish, yet I don't feel it will reach the heights of the 2022.
This is aromatically quite similar to the Pucelles but with more wood in evidence. Also like the Pucelles, the texture is gorgeous despite the medium weight flavors not being quite as dense, all wrapped in a lightly citrus-inflected finale that needs to develop better depth so a few years of keeping are recommended.
