Offering up aromas of dark cherries, berries, spices and loamy soil, the 2020 Monthélie Les Duresses is medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, with terrific depth and energy. It's one of the finest renditions of this cuvée that I can remember tasting chez Lafon.

The last vineyard to be picked, as is usually the case. A good yield here. Fresh full purple, a pure pinot nose, thick textured deep raspberry fruit on the palate, some tannins, low acidity, plenty of fruit weight and lovely persistence.
