This vintage marks a stylistic shift in this retrospective. The 2009 Brunello di Montalcino Tenuta Nuova proudly demonstrates a level of energetic brightness and crispness that you taste with unquestioned intensity here. This quality is buried in most of the previous editions of Tenuta Nuova. This vintage in particular exhibits ripe fruit with blackberry, prune and plum. But the mouthfeel is anything but heavy or flat. Instead, it shows buoyancy and verve.
This is tight and muscular with blackberries, black tea and dry earth. Full-bodied, tannic and linear. Driven and toned. A little hard now, but there are lots going on.
