The 2015 Gevrey Chambertin Village felt a little pinched on the nose after the exuberant Pommard Les Tavannes, quite strict and linear but opening up with floral scents with time. The palate is medium-bodied with quite solid tannin that render this Gevrey a little tight and obstreperous on the finish, but there is satisfying weight and length.
This is riper still as there is a liqueur-like quality to the blend of various dark berries, spice, underbrush and soft earth scents. There is both good volume and energy to the detailed middle weight flavors that deliver solid if not truly special length on the dusty, firm and mildly austere finale.
