Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting in Beaune, the 2013 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Cras has a crisp, orderly, well-defined bouquet with mineral-rich brambly red fruit that opens nicely in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine delineation, supple tannin, dark berry fruit mixed with tea and a touch of black olive. Good length, fine backbone, this is a very well made, you might say "orderly" Chambolle-Musigny.
Another more ethereal, limestony nose. Taut and lean in the mouth, with the promise of a certain masochistic purity.
