The 2015 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru has a composed, well-defined bouquet, quite fumé in style with intense citrus fruit, orange blossom, tangerine and touches of grey slate. There is something almost Riesling like here. The palate is very well balanced with crisp citrus fruit, a keen line of acidity and a light nuttiness that comes through with aeration. I would have just liked more on the back palate - it seems to just dip before the finish line when you want it to deliver the same degree of sophistication exhibited by the aromatics. Maybe it will with time?
This starts out with butterscotch, apple and pastry flavors, backed by a balanced profile and a supple texture. A hint of clove creeps into the lingering aftertaste.
Butter, preserved lemon, salt and chalk on the palate – very Burgundian. Less unctuous than their Corton-Charlemagne, but equally concentrated in flavour. Very impressive.
