Dark ruby/purple-colored, with a ripe nose of chocolate, black fruits, brandy-macerated cherries, figs, and prunes, this medium to full-bodied, plush Rouget reveals a chewy, concentrated texture as well as a ripe, fat finish. With a bit more definition and complexity, it would merit an outstanding score. Anticipated maturity: 2002-2015. Under new ownership, this once moribund estate is producing their finest wines in more than thirty-five years.
Plenty of blackberry and smoke character on the nose and palate. Medium- to full-bodied, with silky tannins and a sweet fruit finish. All in finesse.
