Cask sample. Pale ruby. Pretty nose of red fruits, red cherry, strawberry and redcurrants. Fresh acidity, light structure and medium body. All very fine and approachable. (MH)
The 2023 Bourgogne Rouge, which comes from vines in Vosne-Romanée, has quite a seductive nose with red cherry, raspberry and light cassis scents. It's not complex, but there is a sense of presence. The palate is medium-bodied with svelte tannins and a slightly creamy texture due to the 30% new oak. There's a touch of pepper toward the unassuming but pleasant finish. Enjoy this over three or four years.
A very pinot-like nose reflects notes of mostly red berries, earth and pretty spice wisps. The sleek, delicious and racy middle weight flavors retain good detail on the balanced and ever-so-mildly austere finale. This is a lovely and understated Bourgogne that should reward a few years of cellaring.
Mid ruby, with a beautifully pure pinot perfume, this is lively, with no dilution, a complete crisp raspberry fruit, with energy, body and length. Very good indeed. What more can one want?
