Avis professionnels

Robert Parker (92)

91-93: A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot, the 2023 Carruades de Lafite is lovely, bursting with aromas of minty blackberries, cassis and cigar box, followed by a medium to full-bodied, fleshy and layered palate that's creamy and textural, its generous core of fruit largely concealing its powdery structuring tannins, concluding with a long, resonant finish.

James Suckling (94)

Elegant and fruit-forward, with fresh herbs, plums, red currants and red berries. Expressive, juicy and poised, with medium body. Tannins are fine and firm, the bright finish lingering elegantly in the back of the nose. Lovely finesse. A blend of 60% cabernet sauvignon and 40% merlot. Already charming and drinkable but can hold.

Jancis Robinson (17)

60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot. 44 hl/ha. Cask sample.
Crunchy, gourmand fruit allied to a suave, velvety texture. Dense and well structured with a certain tension on the finish. (JL)

Vinous (94)

The 2023 Carruades de Lafite is a rare Carruades that is just Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, as the team felt Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot were not as successful. Silky, aromatic and finessed, the Carruades captures all the elegance of its big sibling, but in a more accessible package. Dried rose petal, orange peel, mint, cinnamon and red-toned fruit soar across the palate. Brisk acids pull it all together on the long, sustained finish lifted by expressive floral overtones.

Jeb Dunnuck (93)

The second wine of this famed estate, the 2023 Carruades De Lafite checks in as a unique blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot, and it might be the first time it's been only two varieties. Pure Lafite elegance emerges in its ripe currants, cherries, leafy herbs, graphite, and leather. It's medium-bodied, pure, layered, and incredibly elegant. Give it just a few years and enjoy over the following two decades.
