Avis professionnels

Robert Parker (94)

Assembled from barrels that don't make it into Bond's single-vineyard offerings, the 2019 Matriarch is an excellent wine in its own right. Perhaps a bit more cedary than the other Bond wines, it deftly marries piney, herbal notes with ripe cherries on the nose, while the medium to full-bodied palate is intense but supple, with a slightly grainy texture on the lingering finish.

Winespectator (93)

A solidly built Cabernet, with a core of warmed cassis and black cherry reduction liberally laced with loam, menthol, bittersweet cocoa and smoldering tobacco details. Reveals ample toast on the finish, but the fruit keeps pace. For fans of the style. Best from 2024 through 2036.

James Suckling (97)

Fabulous, enticing nose of crushed redcurrants and flowers, following through to a medium to full body with firm, fine tannins that show beautiful finesse. Succulent finish. Peaches at the end. So hard not to drink now.

Vinous (93)

The 2019 Matriarch is gorgeous. Dark red cherry, plum, mocha, licorice and leather infuse the 2019 with striking depth. Medium in body and resonant, the 2019 is so wonderfully expressive today. All the elements meld together nicely here. Best of all, the 2019 will drink well upon release.

I loved the 2019 Matriarch, and this full-bodied, round, seamless beauty hits all the right spots. Cassis, graphite, toasted spice, and beautifully integrated oak all define the aromatics, and it has wonderful tannins, a pure, silky, elegant mouthfeel, and a great finish. It’s going to evolve for 15+ years.
